Nanoleaf Smarter Hub Installation
These instructions provide an alternative manual installation that will switch your Smarter Hub to our Beta branch. This means you will be the first to get new updates in the future. Don’t worry, we test everything extensively before releasing it to the Beta branch.
Please note that at this time, performing a manual installation will require you to re-pair through HomeKit and re-join your lightbulbs.
Here are the installation instructions:
Download the firmware file from:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/smart…firmware1/1.0.11.firmware
- With the Hub powered off and Ethernet cable removed, hold the button at the top of your hub while you plug in the power.
- The Hub Lights will flash one by one first and then all the lights will blink at the same time. Once that happens plug in the Ethernet directly to your Computer/Laptop.
- After 2-3 minutes your Hub would join a local network with your Computer
- On your Web Browser go to 169.254.123.123. You may need to deactivate wifi to ensure it uses the ethernet connection.
- Upload the Firmware file that you downloaded and then the Hub will upgrade and reboot. Wait for around 2-3 minutes
- Delete the Smarter Hub and Bulbs from the App. You will be able to see the Hub again in the Nanoleaf App.
Note that this update includes an update to the Ivy light bulbs as well. The bulb update will initiate between 10-20 minutes after you re-setup your hub/lights if the lights have not already been updated. The bulb update takes 5-10 minutes and you will see a soft flickering on the bulb itself. If the bulb has been set to off through the app, you won’t see any flickering. When it completes, it will shut off briefly, and return to its previously set state. The update includes:
- Minor tweaks for subsequent bulb update behaviour
- Addition of a feature that allows you to turn the bulb off without needing the app or loss of power
